I love painter Haley Hasler's quirky parodies of her self portrait which "confronts the viewer with an outward representation of the inner self ". Her paintings present a narrative of her life as she sees it where she is often seen balancing motherhood and marriage while deftly offering a plate of hors d'oeuvres or birthday cake.......all while flying through the air or wearing a tiara. Don't we all feel like this at times?

I can see myself spending many languid summer days at this adorable Swedish cottage.I think one of the reasons I'm so attracted to the Swedish esthetic is the similarity to houses here in New England....the white clapboard, antique multi-paned windows and generous porches are familiar sites here as well.Familiarity breeds comfort, I suppose. Images from here.

As a fan of the highly decorative and ornate, islamic design has always been inspirational. No other culture does non-figurative/geometric design like they do, in my opinion. I love the details, the symmetry and of course, the richly contrasting hues.
